Reading Amateur Regatta

The Reading Amateur Regatta brings exciting rowing to the Thames in Reading. In 2011 the  Regatta will be held on Saturday 11^th and Sunday 12^th of June. The format of racing will be the same as previous years: A buoyed two lane course is rowed downstream, starting from stakeboats with bank umpiring*. The Reading Amateur Regatta provides crews with an excellent opportunity to gain experience in very competitive and demanding one to one racing.

On Saturday the race distance will be 1500 metres, whilst on Sunday this is reduced to 1100 metres (which is equal to the Fawley length in the Henley Regatta). On Saturday, like previous years, the winners of several events will be presented with a Trophy. The names of the winning crew will be engraved on the Trophy.

The Reading Amateur Regatta is organised by a small team of rowing enthusiasts. With growing interest in rowing following several Olympic successes, we are keen to play our part in broadening interest and understanding of our sport. We have many ideas to improve our event for competitors and spectators alike. However, we are always open to new ideas and welcome new blood to the team.
